Shadow Bearers

Can grief question creation itself?

Synopsis

After losing her parents, a girl demands an answer from the powers behind creation. A faceless Shadow leads her beyond earthly perception to a cosmic gathering. Questions of grief, freedom and responsibility connect the human voice with gods and creators. The source unfolds through numbered songs and staged visions.

Possible stage form

Mythological drama; a staged reading or a production using light, sound and ensemble voices are development options. No premiere or cast is claimed.

Original passage

In the cemetery. A girl weeps over her parents’ grave, unaware that someone in the apparently deserted cemetery is watching her grief.

Existence is emptiness… futility.
Life is only an illusion, worth nothing.
I feel the invisible world calling,
calling to me without a sound,
but now I do not care,
for pain rules my soul.
